Chris Rommel can draw caricatures from
photographs. He provides two options...Airbrushed or
Digital. Airbrushed caricatures are drawn in marker and colored using an airbrush,
just like his live and airbrushed examples on his portfolio page. Airbrushed
caricatures are mailed to you on 12" x 16" sheets, but you can request a different size
(fee may apply for larger sizes). This organic technique is ideal for personal gifts, since you
get an original piece of artwork. Digital caricatures are drawn and colored digitally
using a Wacom drawing tablet, just like his
digital and published caricatures on his portfolio page. Digital caricatures are
created at your requested size. Files will be sent to your email as attachments
(yousendit.com or dropbox.com for large files) or copied onto a
compact disc and mailed to your mailing address. This way, you can take the files to you
local printer (Kinko's, OfficeMax, etc.) or use your own printer and make as many prints
as needed. This clean technique is ideal for
promotional materials, such as business cards and web sites, or as group gifts.
Drawing from photographs takes longer than drawing from live subjects. Currently,
Chris charges $100 per person for Airbrushed caricatures or $250 per person for
Digital caricatures. Complex themes and/or backgrounds may be extra. Here are examples of both techniques...

What is needed are good, clear
photographs of all people wished to be caricatured (more than one photograph is helpful).
These photographs need to be large enough for him to see the details of each
feature, necessary to capture a good likeness. The better the photograph, the
better the caricature. If a large group caricature is requested, at least one photograph
of each person is needed. Please include
a description of any basic theme if desired,
otherwise a basic head and shoulders caricature will be drawn. Full body photographs
with desired clothing are also requested if body is to be included. Please remember that
complex themes and/or backgrounds may be extra. Please also include the eye and hair
colors of each person, since some photographs can be deceiving. All photographs can be
sent to Chris via email attachments or mailed to his mailing address (please
contact for mailing address).
At least a 50% (half) down payment is required in advance. Payments can be made in by either cash, check, money
order or credit card through PayPal (3% surcharge will be added for
PayPal transactions). Chris will email you rough sketches to view, request any changes and make sure
you are satisfied before creating the final. Once the final is completed,
Chris will email you a low-resolution attachment of it and will wait until
receiving the remaining balance due before sending the final.
Turn-around time for completion of mail orders is usually within one week, but may
vary during certain times of the year. Caricatures will be rolled inside a
mailing tube or placed in a flat, sealed picture protector and large padded
envelope. Any printed photographs will be returned along with your order.
Shipping will be handled by the United States Postal Service (USPS).
